I’ve heard people tell me that friendship isn’t something you can see,
                             You can’t taste it, touch it, smell it, hear it, because
                                                   Friendship is an abstract thing and we’re all human
                                                          (And because humans don’t know everything).
But I thought, and I wondered, I examined twice more; I found that:
Friendship is when you have a gigantor cookie, bought all special from Mrs. Fields’
          But you end up with a quarter-sized Chips Ahoy! and four chocolate-y smiles,
                                                                                           One of them yours.
Friendship is when they’re crying and you put your arms around them and you’d think “eww, mushy”,
                                          But it’s not like that,
          It’s not like that at all, especially when they hiccup and begin to sniff instead.
    (Friendship is also when you see them and you just want to give them a hug for being just so silly, just so funny, just so there, and
                    You don’t feel squeachy at all, even though it’s a –gag- hug.)
Friendship is dragging them up at the crack of dawn at a sleepover
                              (Even though they’ve only slept an hour)
And after pulling them to the window to see the sunrise
                                        (They appreciate it eventually),
You lead the way to the kitchen because the sun reminded them of candy
                                  (Which you both finished last night)
So you make them sunny-side-ups and elliptical almost-pancakes instead
                                                    (And you look at each other with bleary, red, eyes
                                                                                                            And grin).
Friendship is when neither of you are American Idol candidates (oh well) but you share a set of earphones and
Nothing’s quite like belting out Disney at the top of your lungs at an obscene hour of the night
               Until you’re both laughing so hard you can barely breathe, much less sing
                                         (Which is fun too).
Friendship is when you tell yourself, “my secret” but even while you fervently think that, it all comes out anyway,
                        And you realize again (because you’d forgotten)
                                   That they would listen to anything you say without judgment
                                               (Though they tell you when you’re being a butthead).
Friendship is also when they say something stupid about your dilemma that should have been offensive,
                                     Should have been depressing,
            Shouldn’t have made you feel better, but cheers you up anyway and
                                                                       You decide it wasn’t so stupid after all
                                                                                     (What are friends for?).
